Services for ear wax removal

Clear Wave Ear Care provides a full range of professional ear wax removal procedures for clients in Weymouth, Dorchester and the wider West Dorset area. If you are in any of these areas and you searched Ear Wax Removal Near Me - BINGO! You have reached the right place.

On this page we give a summary of the main procedures our clinical team can complete. For more information and to see what to expect at an appointment, look at our Self Help guide, this will give you some tips on what to do prior to any treatment and we have more detail on the whole process on our Ear Wax Removal Process guide.

Microsuction

A small medical suction device gently removes wax while the clinician views the ear canal through a microscope or loupes. Considered the safest and most precise method because it avoids water and pressure.

Irrigation (Water Irrigation / Ear Syringing Alternative)

A controlled stream of warm water is used to flush wax out of the ear canal. Modern irrigation is safer than old‑style syringing, but still not suitable for everyone (perforated eardrum, infections, ear surgery history). We are not currently offering this through Clear Wave Ear Care as the gold-standard is microsuction.

Manual Removal (Instrumentation)

Tools such as Jobson Horne probes, curettes or forceps are used to manually lift or tease wax out. Often used alongside microsuction for stubborn or dry wax.

Softening Drops (Cerumenolytics)

Medical‑grade drops such as olive oil, sodium bicarbonate, or hydrogen peroxide‑based solutions help soften wax before removal. These are not a removal method on their own but can make the procedure easier and more comfortable. You can find the drops we recommend prior to any treatment on our Ear Gear page.

Services we do not offer

Ear Candling (Not Recommended) - A widely debunked alternative therapy. It is unsafe, ineffective, and not supported by clinical evidence. NHS and ENT specialists strongly advise against it.
